Are you worried about problems you haven't earned?
Setting goals and working towards them is fulfilling. It feels good to make progress towards change. But it can also be scary. We can’t, however, use the possibility of potential challenges tomorrow to undermine our work today.
In weight loss, as in any behavior change, we need to learn to walk before we can run. One of the biggest roadblocks that those on the path of behavior change face is not any external challenge but rather the ones of their own creation. We sabotage our process for fear of the outcome.
Recently, I’ve had a few conversations with clients where they expressed fear over maintenance. How would they deal with it? What would it be like? Would they fall apart? My answer to them is simple. Stop creating problems where they don’t exist.
We, as humans love to complicate shit. Look, if you’ve got road to go on your journey to change, focus on that. Focus on the path at your feet and not the one that only exists in your imagination. Earn that. Get there. Then you can worry. Until then, just focus on what is real. What is in front of you. What will get you from here to there. Or you’ll never get the chance to see what the fuss was all about.
