Mindful Monday: a new article for you!
Mindfulness, for me, is an indispensable implement in the toolbox of weight management. Some come by it naturally and can maintain a healthy weight just because they are in touch with their hunger cues and are present with meals. Most of us, though, need to utilize a practice and grow in this realm. And if you have more esoteric goals, like growing significant muscle mass, it may be a detriment.
With my clients I have found that utilizing mindfulness practices is a part of becoming a more complete and robust human. While I do believe that some cognitive oversight is important to better understand the makeup of foods, a mindfulness practice will help us to avoid some of the pitfalls that a fat loss program can create. I have seen this in many of the more than thousand fat loss clients I have worked with. Maintaining weight after loss is about much more than counting calories or macros.
My anecdotal evidence, however convincing, is still just that. Anecdotal. We need to look to robust studies for proof. So that’s what I have done. In this longer form article you can see the conclusions of several studies and the role of mindfulness on fat loss.
It’s long, and my first foray into a long form article in a more research oriented format but not too boring (I hope). Check it out and if you like it please share it with others. I’m pretty proud of how it came out and would love to see what you think as well.
Is mindfulness a legitimate tool for fat loss?
