The misconception of wasted time
All we have is time. Time is money. More time is money well spent. There seem to be more cliches about time than there are hours in a day. So much so that there also seems to be more stress than ever concerning how we spend it.
We are told to feel guilty if we watch tv at night or read fluff or play a video game. We should be learning or creating or training for life! But what if we don’t want to do any of those things? What if we just want to “waste time”?
It’s ok. Your time is yours. The biggest regret I hear from clients is that they wasted weeks by not losing x amount of pounds in a certain amount of time. My question is always the same; what have you learned?
Success is what we make it. Success is context dependent and not based on anyone else’s definition. It is ours alone. In the nutrition sphere success is define by significant weight loss. Yet what is the success of losing weight only to gain it back? What is the success if weight loss comes with problematic eating behaviors?
Spend your time how you see fit. If you want to get better at something be that cooking or basketball or even behaviors around food, you’re gonna need to practice. You are going to need to invest some time. But, if it’s something you value I promise it’s time well spent.
