Weight neutral strategies

Weight neutral strategies are not meant for intentional weight loss. Yet they can result in weight loss.

Early on in the process of working with clients, it’s imperative that we determine goals and the process in which we will pursue them.

If we are working to restore a relationship with food than we will most likely be employing weight neutral strategies as the nature of chronic dieting prevents that process. Yet we often see weight loss.

If someone has previously done the work to restore this relationship@or comes to me with a healthy relationship with other food, we will work on intentional weight loss strategies. When it’s time for weight maintenance we will switch to more weight neutral strategies but many ppl have maintained their weight with the same tools they used for weight loss. While not my advised method, it works for some.

As practitioners it’s important that we look at tools, the clients goals, and what it is they need in the moment.

Don’t use a chainsaw where a scalpel is needed.
