Happy Thanksgiving!
Today I’m thankful for so much. Sarah and Bigsby, our new home in Charleston, SC, and the chance to have new adventures in a new place. I’m grateful every day for my work, the opportunity to work with real people, to work on change. I’m thankful for the opportunity to work on myself. To learn more about what it means to be human.
I’m thankful for friends and mentors in my chosen career. I’m thankful for friends and mentors in my chosen hobbies. And I’m thankful for friends and mentors that are there just because we are weirdos who found each other floating in a sea of conformity. You all know who you are.
This year might feel a little different. If you’re like me, you’ll just be staying home enjoying some beautiful local seafood and filets. Avoiding the traditional foods since it will just be the 3 of us and none of us like turkey. But we can be thankful anyways. Just having food in the table and a roof over our heads is so much more than many people might have today.
I, for one, will look back at 2020 with much gratitude in my heart. Gratitude for an awakening of social justice. Gratitude for an awakening of self awareness. And gratitude for the universe reminding us that we are not in control. We merely inhabit this space. And that’s a beautiful thing.
What are you thankful for today?
