The winner's circle

Life is not easy. We can’t expect that things will go the way we want them to. We will have to face some hard truths. And it’s often when we expect them least.

Sometimes we become so entrenched in our work or our goals that we lose sight of what’s truly important; those right beside us. If we let those blinders guide us to success in one area we risk missing the beauty all around; we can only see the finish line.

Life might feel like a race. It might feel like we just don’t have enough time to get the things done we dream of. Sometimes it feels as if when we aren’t working towards some goal we are wasting time. But it can be that time working that is actually wasted if it comes at the expense of our loved ones. The irony is that we have all the time we need. We just need to know where to spend it.

Take off the blinders. Don’t be the first to the finish line only to turn around and realize there’s no one there to celebrate your win. I know it’s hard. It’s hard for me. But I promise, I’d rather finish dead last the be a winner without the one that matters most.
