Setting yourself up for success... or failure
Are you setting yourself up for success? Or failure? Amazingly, the two look a whole lot alike.
Janet and Jane both have similar goals. They have tried everything to lose weight and nothing has worked. Yet one of them will see massive success while another will fail before she begins.
Janet came in looking for change. She was ready to try anything and realized it would be difficult. She changed her habits around food, worked hard week in and week out in both regulating her intake and exercising regularly. She did work on her skills to improve her relationship with food. She achieved change.
Jane, however, viewed things differently. Jane came into the process with a list of things that would mean utter failure. She would need constant attention, she would need an exact meal plan, she would need reminders daily. Regardless of what we know works, regardless of what she’s done in the past, regardless of her own responsibility in the process, she was set up to fail. The stipulations for success were actually just a roadmap for failure.
The two paths are not that different. We have a desired outcome, we find a path to guide us, and then we set up steps. The difference is only in the steps. Are they helping you to climb your personal peak or are they just being placed as obstacles to be in your way?
Shift your perspective from all the reasons you may fail and instead use those same reasons as catapults to success. It’s all your choice. If you are ready, you have to take the reins.
